How much does a website cost in Guadalajara?

Almost every pricing guide ends in "it depends". This one doesn't: here are the prices Guadalajara providers publish today, what they leave off the quote and what I charge, so you can compare with numbers.

The short answer

On September 24, 2026 I reviewed the prices published on the websites of 12 web design providers in Guadalajara and its metro area, plus 12 more in Mexico City, Monterrey and national agencies. This is what the market charges today in the Guadalajara metro area (prices in Mexican pesos):

Type of siteMedian in GuadalajaraPublished range
Landing page (one page)MXN 7,000 + VATMXN 5,990 to 8,500
Business website (4–6 sections)≈ MXN 11,000MXN 2,500 to 17,500
Online storeMXN 22,500 + VATMXN 2,500 to 29,990
Monthly maintenancefrom ≈ MXN 1,740 a monthMXN 1,740 to 8,816
Domain + hosting (renewal)MXN 1,400 to 1,800 a year—

Two caveats before you use these numbers. First, providers who publish their price tend to be cheaper than those who don't, so the real market sits a bit higher. Second, almost every formal agency charges "plus VAT": add 16 % if you need an invoice.

Why one site costs MXN 1,500 and another MXN 30,000

The market splits into three bands, and design is only part of the difference:

  • Budget (≈ MXN 1,300 to 4,000). Templates, delivery in under a week and a long list of "included" items. The provider usually makes money on the yearly renewal and on volume.
  • Mid-range (≈ MXN 5,000 to 16,000). Small agencies or established freelancers, almost always on WordPress, with one to three rounds of changes and basic SEO.
  • Premium (MXN 17,000 and up). Custom design, real SEO and measured performance. Many of these agencies don't even publish a price.

No band is "the right one". A taco stand that only needs to be found and get WhatsApp messages doesn't need a MXN 30,000 site. A construction firm bidding for large companies probably needs more than a template.

The costs nobody tells you about

Here's what matters. The price on the quote is almost never what the site ends up costing. These are the items that, in the packages I reviewed, are left out or hidden in the fine print:

1. Domain and hosting renewal

Almost everyone includes the domain and hosting "free" for the first year. From year two you pay the renewal: MXN 700 to 1,800 a year depending on the provider. With a platform like Hostinger, the first year can cost about MXN 444 and the renewal rises to about MXN 1,800.

2. Whose name the domain is in

Almost no package says. If the domain is registered to the provider and one day you want to switch, you can lose your web address and your email. Ask in writing for it to be registered in your name.

3. Copy and photos

Copywriting is almost never included: you're normally expected to supply the text. Photos aren't either; at most, stock images that a hundred other sites use. If you have neither, budget for them separately or ask whether they're included.

4. Changes after delivery

Packages include one to eight rounds of changes before launch. After launch, each change is billed as maintenance or by the hour, and the market rate is around MXN 400 to 600 an hour.

5. Monthly maintenance

Always extra. Where it's published, the entry plan in Guadalajara is around MXN 1,740 to 1,800 a month. You don't always need it, but ask what it costs before you sign, not after.

6. VAT

In the Guadalajara area, almost every formal agency publishes prices "plus VAT". A MXN 7,000 + VAT landing page is MXN 8,120 if you need an invoice. Budget providers rarely mention it.

7. The code and the way out

This is the most overlooked one. Of the 24 providers reviewed, only one clearly states that the site belongs to the client. Most work on WordPress with visual builders or on templates hosted on their own servers. While you keep paying, all is well; the problem comes the day you want to leave and find you can't take your site with you.

8. "Basic SEO"

It shows up on almost every list and almost nobody defines it. Often it just means adding a title and a description. Real SEO (keywords, content, Google Maps) is billed separately or comes in the most expensive packages.

What to ask before hiring

  • Will the domain be registered in my name?
  • How much is the domain and hosting renewal from year two?
  • Do the prices include VAT?
  • How many rounds of changes are included, and what does a change cost after launch?
  • Who writes the copy and who provides the photos?
  • Do you hand over the code, or does the site live on your platform?
  • What exactly does "SEO" include?

If they answer all seven straight, that's a good sign, whatever they charge.

My prices, so you can compare

Since we're talking about transparency, here are mine (plus VAT):

  • Basic: MXN 3,000. A one-page landing with your brand and a WhatsApp button.
  • Standard: from MXN 8,000. A four-to-six section business website with its own design and basic SEO.
  • Premium: from MXN 18,000. Fully custom design, an online store or special features.
  • Hosting and maintenance: a monthly price depending on the size of the site. It includes text and photo changes.

In all three, the domain is registered in your name and the code is yours: if you ever want to leave, you take it with you. Details are on the web design in Guadalajara page, and you can open twelve sample designs before deciding.

Frequently asked questions

Why are there websites for MXN 1,300?

Because they're templates made in volume and the provider profits from the yearly renewal. They can work to get started; just check whose name the domain is in and what the second year costs.

Isn't Wix or Hostinger cheaper?

For the first year, yes: you can have a site for a few hundred pesos. But you build it yourself, and the renewal goes up. If you have the time and an eye for design, it's a valid option.

Does it cost the same in Mexico City or Monterrey?

Among providers who publish prices, the median outside Guadalajara was actually lower: about MXN 5,900 for a landing page and MXN 6,500 for a business site. That's because budget packages of MXN 1,300 to 3,500 sit alongside agencies charging MXN 15,000 to 35,000.
